The Siblinghood of the World Bloggers Tag

So I’m still sifting through the blog tags and awards I received over the summer, and the next one is the Siblinghood of the World Bloggers Tag from Elizabeth Rawls. (Thank you, E.! Sorry it’s taken me so long to get to this!) This was originally known as Sisterhood of the World Bloggers, but someone wanted to make the tag more inclusive and changed the name. Not a bad idea, I say. 🙂

The rules for Siblinghood of the World Bloggers are as follows:

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and link to their blog in your post. (Check!)
  2. Answer the questions that the blogger who nominated you has provided.
  3. Nominate 10 other bloggers, and notify them of said nominations.
  4. Create 10 questions for your nominees.

Elizabeth put a neat twist on hers, and started all of her questions with the phrase “Would you rather…”. So, here we go!

Elizabeth Asks, “Would You Rather…?”

Write in the morning or late evening?

Morning, regardless of whether it’s blogging or novel-writing. My brain tends to function better in this area earlier in the day than at night.

Eat ice cream or cookies?

Um, BOTH? No?? 😦

My answer depends on the time of year. If it’s warm outside, I prefer ice cream. If it’s a cold day, then I’d say cookies – especially freshly baked cookies. Mmmmmmmm……

Watch TV shows or movies?

Movies. The only TV shows I make time to watch are Game of Thrones and Orphan Black. Plus, I do most of my reading at night, so it’s hard to prioritize watching a TV show over an unputdownable book.

Read a paperback or hardcover book?

I don’t know if I have a preference… Paperback reissues of hardcovers sometimes include neat extras like author interviews, short stories, and discussion questions. But there’s also something regal and special about investing a little more money in the hardcover edition. The artwork tends to “pop” more on hardcovers, too.

Own a cat or dog?

Dogs. Pets except for goldfish were basically forbidden in my family. (My mother laid down that law very early on.) But my maternal grandparents owned dogs for as long as I can remember, and their two last ones were incredibly personable and affectionate. My only experience with a cat involves me baby-sitting a family who had two cats, and one of them threw up on the kitchen floor. :p

Fly like a bird or swim like a mermaid?

Mermaid! Swimming was one of my favorite activities when I was growing up. Plus, I love, love, LOVE the ocean. 😀

Wildflowers or cultivar?

Wildflowers, I guess. I love flowers and have tried many times to take care of them at home, but they never do well…

Cold weather or hot weather?

In between, please? I can’t stand either the heat and humidity of summer or the frigid temps of winter. The warm or slightly cool weather in spring and fall is more to my liking.

Visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learning style?

I learn best by trying something myself, so I’d say a combination of visual and kinesthetic learning styles. Tell me how to do something, and I’m guaranteed to forget it. Especially when it comes to directions. I NEVER remember how to get from Point A to Point B if someone gives me verbal directions.

Action movie or comedy?

How about a movie that combines both? 🙂 Other than that, it depends on what the movie is about. I like both action films and comedies, but they have to be the right kind of either in order to appeal to me.

My 10 Questions for My Nominees

I like Elizabeth’s idea of “Would you rather…” questions. So, keeping with that spirit, here are my 10 questions for the Siblinghood of the World Bloggers Tag.

Would you rather…

  1. Drink tea or coffee?
  2. Read in the morning or at night?
  3. Vacation somewhere with an ocean view or a mountain view?
  4. Cook, or have someone else cook for you?
  5. Go on a trip with family or your best friend(s)?
  6. Choose Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, or Ravenclaw as your “house” at Hogwarts? (I couldn’t help myself with a Harry Potter question. *lol*)
  7. Read about a protagonist who shares your hobbies and personality traits, or a protagonist who’s completely different from you?
  8. Watch a movie in the cinemas, or wait until it’s on DVD / HBO / cable / etc.?
  9. Ride a hippogriff or a hippocamp?
  10. Revisit your childhood, or teleport into your future?

And My Nominees Are…

YOU! 😉 Most everyone I know was recently nominated for Siblinghood of the World Bloggers, so I’m calling this an open tag. Feel free to join in and become part of the Siblinghood by answering the above questions in your comments or by posting a response on your own blog. (If you do the latter, please make sure to tag my post so I can read yours when it’s online!)

  1. I am laughing inside because we answered the complete opposite to most of these. 😉
Was your house too small for a pet? I had a lifetime’s fill of dogs because we had them growing up (but honestly, it was my brother’s dog that was the last straw. She was CRAZY)
Anyhow, I really like reading these, and the would you rather was a fun idea 🙂
Even though I’ve done the tag, I will answer a few of your questions because they are fun!
    1. I drink copious amounts of tea and coffee both – but my preference depends on the time of day.
    4. I love to cook – so I’d rather prepare a meal for people than the reverse. However, it is nice to kick up your feet and let someone else do all the work at times!
    5. Ravenclaw. The quizzes have me down. But if not Ravenclaw, Slytherin!
    9. Hippogriff!

    • Did we? *lol* I’ll have to check your answers again then.

My mother simply didn’t – still doesn’t – like pets. A large dog had knocked her down and traumatized her as a child, and I think she’s hung onto that. The only pets she would allow were goldfish (granted that we took care of the fishtank…) and a baby turtle we rescued one summer.

I also enjoy cooking, though I don’t do major “productions” for only myself unless I’m trying a dish for the first time. Actually, I had company over for dinner last Friday, and I made my “super-duper-gourmet” homemade macaroni and cheese. It uses cheddar and monterrey jack cheeses instead of American, and panko-style Italian breadcrumbs instead of regular breadcrumbs. 🙂

I think I was Ravenclaw, too… I don’t remember. It’s been a while since I took the quiz. Maybe I should take it again. 😉

  2. This was fun to read! Thanks for participating, Sara. I asked some impossible questions on purpose, haha, even when I’d have trouble answering them myself. 🙂 I couldn’t choose between hot or cold weather, mermaid or fly, action or comedy. 😀
Okay, I’ll answer some of your questions now!
    1. I mostly drink coffee, and save tea for special occasions or days when I need something to brighten my day. 🙂
    3. A place that has BOTH! 😀
    6. I got Ravenclaw on the test!!! Which one would you choose, Sara?
    9, Hippogriff!

    • Ah, so you were being sneaky by asking those questions. 😉 Well, the next time I nominate you, I’ll have to keep that in mind. *muahahahahaha*

I actually don’t remember where I ended up in Hogwarts. Definitely not Slytherin… I want to say either Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff? Maybe I should take the test again to make sure. 🙂

      • Teehee! 😀
Uh-oh, I’m sensing a disturbance in the force: someone is planning an attack of difficult questions, and it’s headed my way! *runs* XD
Two tests gave me different results, but Ravenclaw made more sense, knowing how I am. The other said Hufflepuff, but I don’t think I’m that sweet of a person, as I imagine most Hufflepuffs would be. 😉

      • Hee hee hee. You best be prepared, Miss Rawls! 😉

I took a couple Hogwarts tests last night, and tested once for Hufflepuff and once for Ravenclaw. I can kind of see why I might fit in with Hufflepuff, but I think I’d rather be in Ravenclaw. I’d like to have Luna for a friend. 🙂

  3. Hardcovers are so cool. ^ ^ I definitely believe there’s some thing regal about them. ^ ^ Aw no pets? That’s sad. I grew up with so many pets, both cats and dogs. I love my cats. They’re cuddly. ^ ^ And you’re the opposite to me! I can’t write well in the morning. XD It just doesn’t work.
