Heart of the Story’s Monthly Newsletter, Plus Updates to This Website

Hi, everyone!

I don’t have a regular blog post going up this week. But I do want to share a couple website-related updates that might interest you. In fact, you may have already noticed some of them in the sidebar and also in the navigation menu. There are two in particular I’d like to highlight, so let’s jump right in with…

Monthly Newsletter for Heart of the Story Editorial & Coaching Services

One thing I wanted to get in the habit of early on with my freelance business was sharing a monthly newsletter. It’s a good way of staying connected with clients and people who opt in for any freebies and keeping them informed with what’s going on with me and Heart of the Story. But I also know what it’s like to be constantly bombarded by business emails (you know what I mean, right?). And I don’t want my subscribers to feel that way, either.

That’s why the Heart of the Story newsletter will be monthly, going out around the first weekday of each month. It’s meant to be more like a letter or conversation starter, with a mix of business and personal updates and very little in the way of sales or marketing stuff. So it’s meant to be informative, engaging, and fun, and I hope subscribers will find each issue to be of value in some way.

Here’s what you’ll find in each newsletter:

  • Writing advice inspired by the past month’s happenings or other topics I’ve been thinking about
  • Book recommendations based on what I’ve recently read
  • Links to recent Heart of the Story blog posts (once the blog is up and running) or articles I’ve written for other websites
  • Upcoming literary events where you’ll find me, including writing conferences and any workshops I’m hosting
  • Questions to get you thinking about your writing and creative process (you can even reply to my emails directly if you’d like to share your answers or experiences with me)

So when does the first issue of the newsletter go out? Um, well, it actually went out last Friday, March 1st. (*face turns red*) Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get this blog post up in time to let you know, and I apologize for that. But if you sign up over the next few weeks, you’ll get the next one, which should go out around Monday, April 1st.

Oh, and as a thank-you for signing up, you’ll receive a free set of writing worksheets! The Story Title Brainstorming Worksheets are an updated version of a similar worksheet duo I used to offer here. But their purpose is still the same: to help you become “unstuck” if you’re trying to think of a title for your story.

Click here if you’d like to sign up for Heart of the Story’s monthly newsletter.

FYI: This newsletter is part of the “regular updates” mentioned in the disclaimer text for Heart of the Story’s free PDF on confidence-building tips for writers. So if you already signed up for that, you don’t need to sign up again for the newsletter.

New Events Page at SaraLetourneauWriter.com

Apart from the updated About page and the small changes I mentioned earlier, the most notable update to this website is the Events page. This is where I’ll share dates and locations for writing conferences I’m planning to attend, poetry readings or open mic nights where I’ll share my work, and any workshops I’m hosting in the future. (Yes, that’s something else I’m working on in terms of business offerings. *wink*) So if you’re ever heading to one of the same events, or if you’re hosting an event and would like to invite me as one of your guests, you’re more than welcome to send me a message here.

That’s all for now. Hope you’re having a great week so far! 🙂 How are your projects (writing or otherwise) coming along?

  1. Sounds like lots of great things! I think I’m signed up for the next newsletter. I signed up for updates and got the pdf. That’s also for the newsletter right? I’m also almost halfway through my second round of agent edits, so I’m on track for getting it finished by the end of March!
