Back in October, I posted the first edition of Looking for a Home to see if anyone was interested in an ARC of The Beautiful Ones by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. Great news: It was a success! The Beautiful Ones is now in the hands of another reader. So today I’d like to do the same with an ARC of Callie Bates’ fantastic debut novel The Waking Land, which I won from a giveaway over the summer.
Again, why am I offering to mail this ARC to an interested reader? Mostly because I want to make more room on my shelves for books I’ve purchased. So I’m not expecting to trade ARCs or get anything in return. Also, this ARC is in great condition and is free of stains, tears, and other damage.
Want to know more? Keep reading after the jump.
What Is The Waking Land About?
Here’s the synopsis of The Waking Land:
Lady Elanna Valtai is fiercely devoted to the King who raised her like a daughter. But when he dies under mysterious circumstances, Elanna is accused of his murder and must flee for her life.
Returning to the homeland of magical legends she has forsaken, Elanna is forced to reckon with her despised, estranged father, branded a traitor long ago. Feeling a strange, deep connection to the natural world, she also must face the truth about the forces she has always denied or disdained as superstition powers that suddenly stir within her.
But an all-too-human threat is drawing near, determined to exact vengeance. Now Elanna has no choice but to lead a rebellion against the kingdom to which she once gave her allegiance. Trapped between divided loyalties, she must summon the courage to confront a destiny that could tear her apart.

What to Do If You’re Interested in This ARC
Like with the previous Looking for a Home, I’m offering The Waking Land only to U.S.-based readers, since I’ll be mailing the ARC myself. This means that international readers won’t be eligible, and I hope they will understand my decision.
If you have a U.S. mailing address and would like to receive this ARC of The Waking Land, please send an email using my Contact Me page by midnight Eastern on Tuesday, December 26th**. This ARC will be given away on a “first come first serve” basis. Thus, the sooner you reach out to me, the more likely it will be yours. 😉
EDIT – 12/12/2017: Thanks to Angie Howard for offering a spot on her bookshelf for The Waking Land! The ARC will be on its way to you later this week. 🙂
