Looking for a Home: ARC of “The Beautiful Ones” by Silvia Moreno-Garcia (US Only)

A few weeks ago I won this ARC of Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s The Beautiful Ones from a giveaway. Now that I’ve finished it, I’ve decided that, instead of keeping it, I’d rather send the ARC to someone else who might be interested in reading it. (This will also save space on my shelves for books I buy or receive as gifts. *wink*)

I’m not looking to trade ARCs or get anything in return. I only want to give The Beautiful Ones a new home. The ARC itself is still in excellent condition, too; in other words, no tears, stains, or other damage.

Interested? Continuing reading after the jump.

What Is The Beautiful Ones About?

Here’s the synopsis of The Beautiful Ones:

In a world of etiquette and polite masks, no one is who they seem to be.

Antonina Beaulieu is in the glittering city of Loisail for her first Grand Season, where she will attend balls and mingle among high society. Under the tutelage of the beautiful but cold Valérie Beaulieu, she hopes to find a suitable husband. However, the haphazard manifestations of Nina’s telekinetic powers make her the subject of malicious gossip.

Yet dazzling telekinetic performer and outsider Hector Auvray sees Nina’s powers as a gift, and he teaches her how to hone and control them. As they spend more and more time together, Nina falls in love and believes she’s found the great romance that she’s always dreamed of, but Hector’s courtship of Nina is deceptive.

The Beautiful Ones is a sweeping fantasy of manners set in a world inspired by the Belle Époque.

“Truly one of the most beautiful books I’ve read in a long time. This sweeping tale of love lost and found is told with old-world elegance, grace, and just the right touch of magic.”
—M. J. ROSE, New York Times bestselling author

What to Do If You’re Interested in This ARC

Since I’ll be shipping the book myself, I’m offering The Beautiful Ones only to U.S.-based readers. So, unfortunately, this won’t be available to international readers, and I hope they will understand why I’m doing this.

If you have a U.S. mailing address and are interested in receiving this ARC of The Beautiful Ones, please send me an email using my Contact Me page by midnight Eastern on Thursday, October 26th. Chances are I’ll be giving this away on a “first come first serve” basis. So the sooner you reach out to me, the more likely it will be yours. 😉

EDIT – 10/15/2017: The Beautiful Ones will be on its way to Mei-Mei @ Jedi By Knight very soon! Thanks for giving this ARC a new home, Mei-Mei. 🙂

  1. I have a NetGalley copy of this, and I need to read it this month, but I hope you’re able to find a good home for it! I’ve only read Certain Dark Things, which I LOVED, but I hear Signal to Noise is really good too. I am worried about how “tame” this sounds compared to her other books.

    • Thanks, Mandie! I got the idea from how a friend had offered to mail me her ARC of Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows a couple years ago, and then I passed it on to another friend. If someone is genuinely interested in reading the same book, why not give it to them? Especially since you can’t donate ARCs to libraries and whatnot.

  3. It’s a very nice gesture to give a way a book you don’t wish to keep on your shelf. 🙂 I used to donate books to the library, but now I switched to ebooks and only buy paperbacks and hardcovers of books I want in that format.
I’m glad the book has found a new home! 🙂

    • Thanks! And I’m also glad that the ARC found a new home. 🙂

I still donate books to my local library, but when I thought about what to do with the Beautiful Ones ARC, it didn’t feel right to donate it, since it’s a) not the final version of the book, and b) given away for promotional purposes. So giving it away seemed like the most appropriate thing to do. And now that I’ve done it twice (another Looking for a Home posted yesterday) and had success each time, it won’t be the last time I do it, either. 😉
