  1. Okay, so this answer may not be surprising coming from a writer, but writing brings me joy. So much joy. For so much of my life I wanted to be an author, and it was always something I was going to do “some day.” I imagined what it would be like and how happy I thought it would make me to pursue it full time. And to be honest, I didn’t have a clue, because it is so much better than anything I imagined. Sure there’s self-doubt and rejection, but my worst day now is so much better than my best day before I decided it was finally time to allow myself to write. When some day became today, it made all the difference in the world.

    • I don’t think it matters whether the answer is surprising or not. ๐Ÿ˜‰ And that’s a beautiful answer, Mandie. Writing is one of the things that brings me joy, too. And as I’ve told other writer friends, any day when you write is a good day. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Oh, I LOVE that! ๐Ÿ˜€ And I know the feeling, since I always look forward to yoga class. Granted, that joy is more quiet and content, but it’s there nonetheless.

Do you find that Fitstep cheers you up when you’re not in the best of moods, or on days that aren’t going so well?

      • Oh absolutely! For starters, our teacher is a marvellous lady who is very even-tempered and patient and the music is generally punchy. And because I’m having to concentrate on getting the steps right, I don’t have time to brood or worry about anything else.

  3. Perhaps not surprisingly, I’ll have to say that my writing is that thing that stirs my heart, that gives me life and purpose. It is my joy! And ever since making the choice two years ago to fully embrace it and pursue it relentlessly, I’ll feel like that side of my life has come into sharper focus and more things are finally conspiring in my favour. Though I recognize a lot of that is me putting the effort into the universe.
On the other hand, my music brings me joy, whether it’s playing the guitar or composing songs. But I’ve put that aside lately. It’s a joy I need to embrace again!

  4. I’m finally starting to catch up with blog posts :).
Writing would be an easy answer, but there’s also art. I’m not an artist, but I enjoy being creative and making things, so whenever I’m stuck at writing (or I’m in a professional mode with it), I turn to art.

    • I’m doing my own catching-up as well. I had cut back on some of blogging and social media activities while I was finishing my online photo album of Iceland for GoFundMe donors. So, as luck would have it, I’m onto your Title Terror post next. ๐Ÿ˜‰

“Iโ€™m not an artist, but I enjoy being creative and making things…”

And that’s what counts, right? The pleasure of engaging in that activity we enjoy so much. Plus, when we’re stuck in our writing, it’s always good to have another creative outlet to turn to.

      • We all have to make decisions of what’s more important for us and our growth, and honor the commitments we’ve made (like yours to your donors), so that’s understandable. ๐Ÿ™‚
And agreed, when writing feels a tedious chore, it’s nice to take a break for a moment.
