It’s award time again! (Yes, I’ve still got more after this one, so I’ll be catching up for a while.) This one comes from Victoria Grace Howell at Stori Tori’s Blog. She’s a fellow speculative fiction writer (currently working on a YA steampunk Red Riding Hood retelling and a YA dystopian sci-fi) who’s also a tea lover and Lord Of The Rings fanatic. If you don’t follow her blog yet, now is a great time to start. Thank you, Tori!
Here are the rules for the Infinity Dreams Award:
- Thank and follow the blog that nominated you.
- Tell us eleven facts about yourself.
- Answer the questions that were set for you to answer.
- Nominate 11 bloggers and set questions for them.
With all these fact-centric tags lately, I’m afraid I’m going to run of ideas for random facts soon! But I think I’ve got a few more I haven’t shared with you yet. 😉
Eleven Facts About Myself
Fact #1: Growing up, I was a HUGE fan of the Carmen Sandiego franchise. I watched the children’s game show, played the computer games (the USA and World versions), and had some of the “Choose Your Adventure / You Are the Detective” books.
Fact #2: My favorite color is purple / violet. All shades, to be honest: orchid, indigo, amethyst, lavender… I’m just a purple kind of girl. 🙂
Fact #3: After purple / violet, my second and third favorite colors are teal and turquoise.
Fact #4: I never learned how to do cartwheels or somersaults when I was younger. I was terrified of standing on my head, too. I think I was afraid of breaking my neck…
Fact #5: Along with butterflies, I’m also fascinated with dragonflies. They’re beautiful in their own way, with their iridescent wings and gorgeous colors; and they’re considered a symbol of joy, harmony, and living life to the fullest. Maybe that explains why I have jewelry and journals that features these tiny creatures.
Fact #6: I tend to chew on my fingernails when I’m concentrating on something, or if I’m nervous.
Fact #7: In fourth grade, my nickname at school was “The Walking Dictionary” because I consistently got top grades on spelling tests. Teasing or not, the name never bothered me. In fact, it made me laugh!
Fact #8: One of my biggest pet peeves is when other drivers don’t use their signal lights for turning. Am I supposed to predict when the driver ahead of me is going to turn?! (Um, yeah. I didn’t think so.)
Fact #9: I love any desserts that have peanut butter and chocolate. If I see such a sweet on a menu, it’s really, reeeeeeeeeeeeealllyyyyyyyy hard for me to pass it up!
Fact #10: My favorite marine animal / mammal / etc. is the dolphin. I love their playfulness and their ability to glide through the water effortlessly.
Fact #11: I love getting pedicures and painting my toenails during the summer. As for my fingernails, I’ll only use clear topcoat on them. (I can’t stand seeing chipped paint on them!)
My Answers to Tori’s 11 Questions
1) Shorts, jeans, or skirts?
Depends on the time of year. If it’s summer, I wear capris (either jeans or dressy, depending on where I am that day) or sundresses. Any other time of the year, it’s jeans or dress pants.
2) Hot weather or cold weather?
Neither. 😉 I prefer the comfortable in-between (warm / cool). I refuse to pick from the other choices!
3) What’s your favorite flavor?
I’m not sure how to answer this question, since I like all kinds of flavors. Chocolate, strawberry, apple, pumpkin, vanilla… I’ll stop there. If I get more specific, such as favorite ice cream flavor, favorite tea flavor, etc., we’ll be here for a while. 😉
4) Coffee, cocoa, or tea?
TEA. 😀 That doesn’t surprise you, does it?
5) What’s the first book you remember reading?
The Poky Little Puppy. My family had other Little Golden Books besides this one, but The Poky Little Puppy is THE classic among them. And what’s not to love about a little dog who’s patient, carefree, and curious enough to take time to notice the beauty around him? 🙂
6) Favorite song artist?
If you mean the artist who plays my favorite song of all time, it’s Savage Garden (“To The Moon & Back”). If you mean in general… I’m going to be lazy and say all of the bands, singers, and musicians listed on my About page because I refuse to choose between them. *lol*
7) Do you play an instrument?
Unfortunately, no. I wanted to learn the keyboard / piano at one point, but never got around to taking lessons.
8) Favorite fandom?
I love both Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter… But methinks my Middle-Earth friends eke out a victory here. 😉
9) Favorite actor?
I… don’t really have any favorites. If I was forced to choose, I’d say my favorite actors are Richard Armitage (Thorin Oakenshield in The Hobbit) and Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones); and my favorite actresses are Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games series, Silver Linings Playbook) and Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black). Otherwise, I tend to follow individual movies, TV shows, or franchises regardless of who’s starring in them. Does that make me weird?
10) Do you have a favorite scent?
Jasmine! Tea, body wash, perfume, candles – you name it, I love it if it’s jasmine-scented.
11) Are you introverted or extroverted?
Very much an introvert. I’m more of a listener / deep-conversation-with-one-or-two-friends kind of person. I also need alone time at night to recharge, especially after a stressful day or being around crowds for too long.

How about you? How would you answer Tori’s questions? Or my questions, even if you aren’t nominated?
I love your facts and answers. 🙂 Now I really want a cup of tea, a plate of chocolate peanut butter balls, a good book with Richard Armitage on the cover, and some easy listening music in the background while dolphins swim in silent grace across my TV screen. 😉 Thanks for the nomination, too, Sara! Will be fun to answer your questions. ❤

XD Thanks, Rachel. And now that you mention it, I’d love to have all of the above at once as well! Looking forward to reading your answers and facts.

It does sound good, doesn’t it. Thanks. ☺ it may take me a week or two, but you’ll have answers. 🙂

I should also mention “Where in the Universe is Carmen Sandiego?” was one of my favorite computer games as a kid. 😉

Where in the Universe? I don’t think I’ve heard of that one. Is it a space travel version?

Yes it is! From the late 80s, early 90s. 🙂

Nooooo, not chocolate and peanut butter! Why ruin perfectly good chocolate that way? *ducks and runs* 🙂

If it makes you feel any better, I do enjoy chocolate on its own too. 😉

Aw, you’re so sweet, Sara! I’m glad you like the tag. I love dragonflies too and it is extremely irritating when drivers don’t signal their turns. -_- Or even better they signal them precisely three seconds before they turn which doesn’t do any good at all. XD And no that fact that tea is favorite totally doesn’t surprise me. 😉

You’re welcome, Tori. Thanks for nominating me!
“Or even better they signal them precisely three seconds before they turn which doesn’t do any good at all. XD”
Totally agree with you, it doesn’t help at all. *shakes her head in disapproval*

Another lovely tag. I’m always surprise how many things we have in common. I like dragonflies too… even if I hate bugs in general. Well, I don’t hate then… I just don’t like them.
I’m a Tolkien fan too 🙂

I’m not really a bug person, either. (I especially don’t like bees, wasps, etc. *cringes*) But dragonflies and butterflies are beautiful creatures, and I’ve been fascinated with both for a while. 🙂
You’re a Tolkienite too? 😀 What was the first Tolkien story you read?

It was the Hobbit, back in my teen days. And you know what? I didn’t really like it. I found it a bit chindlish.
Then I read it again for an assignment years later… and I LOVED it! I remember I kept thinking, wait, wait, this isn’t the book I read when I was a child. This is absolutely fantastic! I love it! It isn’t the same book!!!

*lol* I only read The Hobbit as an adult. My younger brother got to read it in school, though, which made me jealous! It would have been a nice break from the other stuff I had to read as assignments.
My first Tolkien book – well, books (plural) – was the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. And I confess that I didn’t read them until after I saw the Peter Jackson films… But that’s OK, right?

Carmen Sandiego!!! I watched that so much as a kid before we moved to Italy–they didn’t have it on TV there.
Love purples and teals, and dragonflies are fascinating to watch–we get a lot of them in the summer; my favorite insect besides butterflies. 🙂
Chocolate and peanutbutter cannot be resisted–EVER. That Uno’s dessert…I need that right now…
LOTR fandom, yes! Although I agree that HP is a very close second. Oh and no shame about seeing the LOTR movies before reading the series, because I didn’t even know the series existed until I saw the first movie! And then I went on a craze grabbing the books and reading them. 🙂 I didn’t even wait for the 2nd and 3rd movies to come out because I had to know the ending.

Yay for fellow gumshoes! 😀 I got the theme song from Rock-A-Pella stuck in my head when I was working on this post. *lol*
You’re not the only one who’s been craving that Uno’s dessert ever since she laid eyes on it. *salivates* Have you had their freshly baked chocolate chip cookies (baked in their individual-sized pizza pans)? They’re. So. YUMMY!!
*lol* I’d heard of Tolkien’s work and Lord of the Rings before the Peter Jackson trilogy came out. In fact, I sort of remember seeing bits of Ralph Bakshi’s animated versions when I was younger. But I didn’t actually read the books until after PJ’s Return of the King. I’ve been catching up on Tolkien’s work ever since. 🙂

Thank you for nominating me! I’m sorry that it’s taken me so long to respond. And that I haven’t visited much recently. (I have a computer again, so I’m back! Phone blogging = no fun.)
haha I was a Carmen Sandiego fan too! I’m with you on desserts! (Except I can’t eat chocolate)
I hate the cold! (So why do I live in Michigan, I have no idea.)
It’s never too late, you can still learn an instrument if you want to! Nope, it’s not weird. I always fall for a good character over a good actor.

You’re welcome, Molly! Please don’t worry about a delayed response. I didn’t know you haven’t had a computer. It must be a huge relief to have one again.
You were also a gumshoe?? 😀 😀
My dad can’t eat chocolate, either. He’s not allergic to it, but there’s something in the natural caffeine of cocoa that bothers his stomach. He can’t drink regular coffee for the same reason.

Thank you! I felt bad being so slow. Yes, I’ve been blogging on my phone since last spring!
haha yup yup. 🙂
Weird. Yeah they said I wasn’t allergic either, but it makes me sick and gives me a headache. (Even thee kind without dairy.)
Nice to talk with you again. 🙂

Many, many thanks for the nomination, Sara – and grovelling apologies for not getting back to you at the time. But back at the end of October I’d just returned from Fantasycon and felt like I’d fallen under a truck… I’m just catching up on my social media obligations, which I’m afraid simply slid away from me!

No worries, Sarah! I’m still catching up on blog awards I was nominated for, going back to September. :S I think I got the email notification that your acceptance post is up, so I’ll check that out soon.
I know the feeling about trying to catch up with social media – though I feel that way more toward staying on top of the blogs I follow. I usually take breaks from blogging on the weekends to focus on TKC… which means I often have a lot of catching up to do come Monday. *eeek*
