Stacking The Shelves is a weekly event hosted by Tynga’s Reviews that shares the books (both physical and virtual) that you recently purchased, borrowed from a fellow reader or the library, won from a giveaway, or received as gifts. Stacking The Shelves will post on Saturdays as new books are added to my shelves.
First of all, a huge and sincere apology to anyone who’s waiting on my response for blog tags and awards! I needed to focus on more deadline-driven articles first, and everything kind of came to a head all at once. 😦 I’m hoping to start catching up before my trip to Writer’s Digest Conference at the end of the month, and then continue when I’m back.
Now, books. Yes. Two new ones, and they are…
Dolor and Shadow (Tales of the Drui, Book #1) by Angela B. Chrysler (Self-Published Dark Epic Fantasy): You might have caught Angela’s interview here last month, where we talked about Dolor and Shadow and the Norse mythology that inspired this story. At that time, Dolor and Shadow was only available as an e-book, but e-reader-less people (like myself) can now enjoy it in paperback format! I’m really looking forward to this one, and hoping to get to it in August.
Siren’s Fury (Storm Siren, Book #2) by Mary Weber (YA Epic Fantasy): Merely thinking about Siren’s Fury reminds me of the end of Storm Siren, which I read last September. GAH!! What on Earth is Mary Weber planning to do to poor Nym next? (That’s what I call an #EvilAuthorMommy.) The blurb still scares me, but I’m so eager to find out what happens next that said eagerness is trumping that fear.
What books did you recently buy or acquire? Have you read of the books shown / discussed above? Feel free to share your opinions and most recent hauls by commenting below.
I haven’t read either of these but I am interested in Mary Weber’s series. I LOVE the cover of Siren’s Fury! Have fun reading, Sara!

Great haul this week! I read Siren’s Fury earlier in the week and enjoyed it more than Storm Siren. Have a great week.

Thanks, Krystianna! I’m hoping to get to Siren’s Fury in a couple weeks. Everyone who’s read it so far seems to have liked it either as much or more than Storm Siren. 🙂

I’ve seen Dolor and Shadow mentioned in a few places, but don’t know much abut it. I hope you enjoy it. 🙂

Thanks, Phoenix! I’ll definitely review it for a future Recent Reads, so be on the lookout for that. You’ll also find more information about Dolor and Shadow in Angela’s interview back in June. 😉

Dolor and Shadow looks very interesting – I like the idea of riffing off Norse mythology. Kevin Hearne does it very effectively in his Iron Druid series. Looks like I’ll have to track it down.

It’s available both as e-book and paperback, depending on which version you prefer. Though it’s more accessible as an e-book. The interview I did with Angela back in June should have some links, if you’re interested.

Thank you for the information. I’m tempted – but I MUST get my TBR book mountain under control. It’s threatening to crush a passing grandchild, again…

Siren Fuuuuury!!! 😀 I finally got my hands on it! It will be a while before I get to reading/reviewing it, but as you said I’m anxious to find out what happens ever since that *ahem* ending…
