I don’t normally go shopping right after Christmas, but with a Barnes & Noble gift card in my wallet and a wishlist that was still quite long, I decided, “Why not?” So, here are the books I bought the day after Christmas, with a “cameo” appearance by one of my tea mugs. *lol*
Shadow And Bone (The Grisha Trilogy, Book #1) by Leigh Bardugo (YA Fantasy): I actually just finished this book the other day, so expect a review of it soon. All I’ll tell you for now: It’s a YA fantasy’s set in a Russian-inspired alternate reality- and it’s INCREDIBLE. 😀
Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, Book #1) by Sarah J. Maas (YA Epic Fantasy): One of several series I listed in my November article “Top 10 Science Fiction and Fantasies Series I Want To Start.” Maas’ Throne Of Glass series has been called the YA equivalent to George R.R. Martin’s A Song Of Ice And Fire saga, and it’s quite popular. I’ve read a number of mixed reviews, though, so now I’m curious how I’ll feel about it when I finally get to it.
Unfinished Tales of Númenor and Middle-Earth by J.R.R. Tolkien (Epic Fantasy): I love Tolkien’s work. And, I love Middle-Earth. Need I say more? 😉
The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Natural Remedies by C. Norman Shealy (Reference / Holistic Health): I fell in love with this book when one of my colleagues brought her own copy to work a few weeks ago. Not only am I interested in trying natural remedies, but one of the characters in my WIP is a healer. So, I’m going to file this book under “fun research.”

I really enjoyed both Throne of Glass and Shadow and Bone. Their sequels…eh, I’m more mixed…but you are in for a good time with the first books for sure (but you already know that with S&B)!

I love this blog event. 🙂 These look great! I’ve heard great things about Throne of Glass. I’ve been reading the Mark Of The Lion trilogy by Francine Rivers – it’s my favorite historical fiction series. It’s set in ancient Rome and it’s about gladiators and the downfall of the Roman empire. I highly recommend it!

Thanks, Ciera! I haven’t heard of the Mark Of The Lion trilogy, so I may have to look into that, since I enjoy historical fiction (probably my 2nd favorite genre after fantasy).

As I just said in my response to your comment, I loved Shadow and Bone! I have to read Throne of Glass already! everyone seems to like it. I just got it for Kindle so I’m probably going to read it soon too. Fun research is the best!
